Are you an author who’s wondering if anyone knows your name?  You’re not alone.  With the advent of self-publishing, thousands of writers enter the book market daily.  And those thousands of writers are also wondering if they will ever sell a book to someone other than a friend or relative.

There is a solution to finding and gaining exposure.  Some elements are as easy as adding a follow to your twitter account.  Other elements are a little more detailed.

First — Join The Author’s Club (as a free member or a paid member).  Why?  Because the club’s website has become a destination for other writers, readers, even the movers and shakers in the publishing or movie industries.  The website (http://theauthorsclub.weebly.com) averages more than 60 page views each day, and has had as high as 874 page views on a single day.  There are people looking for authors.

Second — follow the club on Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/authors_club) and retweet the tweets from the club.

Third — follow Nothing But Authors Interviews on Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/interviewsonly) and retweet the tweets.

Fourth — follow Nothing But Book Reviews on Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/bookreviewsonly).  Again, retweet the tweets.

Fifth — compose and submit blogs to The Author’s Club blog site (http://theauthorsclub.wordpress.com).  If you see something good, email the link to theauthorsclub@gmail.com, or copy and paste the contents.  You will be given credit for the blog in the blog headline.  What does that mean?  Your name will be posted on the Internet.

Sixth — Submit each of your book reviews, either reviews you’ve done on other books or reviews that have been done on your books, to Nothing But Book Reviews (http://onlybookreviews.wordpress.com)  The names of the author and reviewers are included in the headline.

Seventh —  Submit an Author’s Interview Questionnaire to Nothing But Author’s Interviews (http://nothingbutinterviews.wordpress.com).  Again, your name and the title of the book are in the headline, and you are provided a platform to tell about your latest (or previous) book

Several other things you can do to increase your exposure is submit thoughtful comments to The Author’s Club blog, the Nothing But Book Reviews blog, and the Nothing But Author’s Interviews blog.  If you’d like to start your own blog, there are numerous free blog sites.  I use WordPress.com.  If you have any questions about WordPress.com, I will do my best to provide the correct answers.   If you are a prolific author, with many titles, you might consider creating a website and then blog about it, tweet about it, or post something on Facebook.  I use Weebly.com.

The above suggestions are things you can sit down and do once, but they don’t provide much exposure by themselves.  The best suggestion for an author is to tweet a minimum of once an hour about their book(s).  This is not a start it and forget it method.
