When was the last time you checked to see how much of a presence YOU have on the Internet? When was the last time YOU searched for YOU on your browser?
I recently inserted “R. Clint Peters” into my browser to see how I was showing up in an Internet search.
I used Bing as the browser. I am on Google +, on LinkedIn, and there are several images of me from various Internet locations. If that wasn’t enough, I found a listing from Amazon, MerchantCircle, Twitter, and several posts from The Book Reviewers & Authors Club blog (http://theauthorsclub.wordpress.com) . When I clicked on the second page, I found one of my books on AskDavid.com, and I found a return from The Book Reviewers & Authors Club website (http://thebookreviewersclub.weebly.com)
So, are YOU getting the most bang for your buck from the Internet?
Here’s a simple test. Use your favorite browser to see how many returns YOU get on your name. Then compare the results with mine. Why? Because YOU can use my presence on Twitter, LinkedIn, MerchantCircle, and The Book Reviewers & Authors Club to increase your presence on the Internet.
How?
Join LinkedIn, (http://www.linkein.com), and connect to me (I have over 200 connections).
Join Twitter and follow both @rclintpeters and @review_club. Those two accounts combine for over 2300 followers. They might not have as many followers as you, but they will add a large group to the ones following you.
And like The Book Reviewers Club on Facebook (http://tinyurl.com/ckjlhos)
Add your name to the membership of The Book Reviewers & Authors Club blog (http://theauthorsclub.wordpress.com) . Your bio will attract Internet attention. And when you are a member, frequently submit something to be posted on The Book Reviewers & Authors Club blog, Nothing But Book Reviews (you can submit a book review to be posted by sending an attached .doc file to nothingbutbookreviews@gmail.com. The review can be a book you have reviewed or a review of a book you have written), and Nothing But Author’s Interviews (it is a young blog, but it is growing).
Add your name and information to The Book Reviews & Author’s Club website (http://thebookreviewersclub.weebly.com). The website can become your marketing pages. You can include book covers, all your links, a synopsis for each book you have written, a page with book reviews you have posted, a page with your author’s interviews, and excerpts of your books. The Book Reviewers & Author’s Club website can become a one-stop marketing platform.
Yes, it is work. However, the results are worth the effort. If you ARE NOT a member of the club, take a few minutes to join. The blog and the website have instructions on how to submit your information.
If you ARE a member of the club, take a few minutes to check out what your presence on the blog and website are, and then see what you can do to increase your Internet presence.
Submit your blog posts to reviewersandauthorsclub@gmail.com
Submit your author’s interviews to onlyinterviews@gmail.com
Submit your book reviews to nothingbutbookreviews@gmail.com
Remember, you might be rewarded when someone comes looking for another member of the club, and finds YOU. Just like one honeybee can’t fill a hive with honey, we must work together to make us all successful. A rising tide raises ALL ships.
